The workshop brought together participants from government agencies, development partners, academia experts, and social activists. A key focus of the workshop was the current status of the household registration system in Vietnam and its influence on people’s – in particular migrant’s- access to public services.
Dr. Phung Duc Tung, Director of MDRI, presented the major findings from the Household Registration System Survey, which was conducted by the MDRI Team with a sample size of 5000 households in five provinces including Hanoi, Da Nang, Dak Nong, Ho Chi Minh City, and Binh Duong.
Based on its findings, the report will provide recommendations on improving migrant access to public services and social protection, and on mitigating the adverse effects of registration systems. It will act as the working paper for Vietnam 2035 Report of the World Bank.
