A just and inclusive energy transition extends beyond technological advancement, power system transformation, and emissions reduction. It places people at the center of the transition, recognizing the importance of protecting workers’ livelihoods, addressing social and economic impacts, and strengthening the adaptive capacity and resilience of communities directly affected by the transition.
On 27 August 2026, the Vietnam CCG Network, in collaboration with the National Economics University (NEU) and the Mekong Development Research Institute (MDRI), will organize a research dissemination seminar to share key findings and foster discussion on issues that are becoming increasingly important to a just energy transition in Viet Nam.
The seminar will focus on:
* Presentation and discussion of research findings, covering the livelihood and employment conditions of coal-sector workers and their capacity to adapt to the energy transition; emerging livelihood and employment opportunities, including those associated with the acacia-wood-biomass pellet value chain; and policy implications for advancing an equitable, inclusive, and sustainable transition.
* Capacity-building training on strengthening the integration of a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) approach into sustainable livelihood and employment development.
