Hanoi, 16th June, 2014. MDRI received a delegation from the International Relations Department at the Parahyangan Catholic University, Indonesia in an excursion trip that laid the foundation for future research cooperation and exchanges.

The delegation comprised of 30 students and led by the Director of the International Relations Department at the University.

During the event, MDRI’s leaders – Dr. Phung Duc Tung, Dr. Nguyen Viet Cuong and M.Sc Ms Tran Thi Quynh Chi – delivered a well-engaging presentation under the theme of “ASEAN Community 2015: Achieving the Three Pillars of the Community” as well as provided insightful perspectives from the Vietnamese development. The Institute presented its expertise on many mutual interest issues, including the evolvement process of implementing the Private-Public Partnership (PPP) model in Vietnam; issues on poverty, ethnic minority and sustainable development; and the enhancement of data and statistics quality for research work and policy dialogues.

Throughout the course of the event, the delegates actively shared their own experience within the Indonesian context as well as expressed their strong interest in exchanging researches on these key issues.

This is one of the very highly regarded initiatives among ASEAN countries’ researching institutions and has then, opened up venues for two-way exchanging of knowledge and lessons during development as well opportunities for visiting researchers and interns. Such a forum is hopeful to provide a powerful platform for the community’s active participation in the ASEAN countries’ cooperation, besides state-level dialogues.
