Resilient livelihoods: Increasing the ability of communities to prevent, mitigate and cope with extreme weather events

This project supported the NMPRPII (the World Bank-funded Second Northern Mountains Poverty Reduction Projects) in 2,366 villages, 230 communes, and 27 districts located in six provinces.

The six provinces are Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Son La, Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, and Lai Chau. The project aimed to reduce the vulnerability of the participating provinces by building community knowledge of and capacity to understand and mitigate natural disaster risks and to improve efforts to address risks in investment and sub-project design and implementation.

Based on those projections, the project facilitated the NMPRPII in realizing the objectives of developing natural disaster mitigation plans and implementing readiness exercises on an annual basis for at least 60% of villages and communes.
