Profile
Huong joined MDRI in December 2021 as a Doctoral candidate at the School of Sociology and Social Policy, University of Nottingham (UK). Her PhD study was funded by the Leverhulme Grant and situated in an interdisciplinary Project ‘Sustaining Urban Habitats’. Huong’s thesis revisits the concept of local autonomy in environmental governance and highlights potential relations between environmental governance approaches of a locality and the landscape of environmental governance beyond its local jurisdiction, from a multilevel governance perspective. Huong read her Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Management at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Polytechnics University) and the Master of Laws in Environmental Law at the University of Nottingham (UK). Prior to the PhD study, Huong had four years working as a city official at Ho Chi Minh City Climate Change Bureau (Vietnam), mainly responsible for technical coordination for international cooperation projects for climate actions. Huong has research expertise and interest in human geography, environmental sociology, and sustainability governance.
