Profile

Huong is a Research Analyst at MDRI. She obtained her PhD in Public Policy with a focus on sustainability governance from the School of Sociology and Social Policy, University of Nottingham in 2023. Before the PhD study, Huong had four years working as a governmental official at Ho Chi Minh City Climate Change Bureau (Vietnam). At MDRI, Huong leads the research cluster on socio-environmental governance and engages in interdisciplinary research projects. Her extensive career spans over a decade, during which she collaborated with diverse partners, notably JICA, UNDP, EFI, IFPRI, OXFAM and other governmental and non-governmental actors. Huong’s research expertise lies in sustainability governance, human geography, and environmental sociology, covering topics such as environmental quality management, deforestation-free agriculture governance, socio-economic aspects in energy transition and greenhouse gas management. Huong is a qualitative researcher at heart with extensive independent fieldwork experience in Vietnam, UK, and China. Meanwhile, she has been engaging in quantitative and mix methods research design, implementation, and data analysis since working at MDRI.
