Profile

Tom Kompas is the Director of the Crawford School of Public Policy and Professor of Economics at Australian National University (ANU). He is the Foundation Director of the Australian Centre for Bio-security and Environmental Economics (AC BEE), and has dedicated much of his recent time to public policy in Australia. Tom’s research specialises in economic dynamics, cost-benefit analysis and natural resource and environmental economics. His bio-economic modelling and bio-security research has been published in the world’s leading international journals and his current work focuses on ocean fisheries management and major bio-security issues in Australia and internationally. He is also an expert in market reform and rice production in Vietnam. During his career, Tom received numerous awards for excellence in teaching and innovation in research.
